Measures taken to protect Hilsa in Jamalpur
JAMALPUR, Sept 22, 2109 (BSS) – A meeting of taskforce committee on Hilsa
fishing was held at the conference room of deputy commissioner in the
district today.
Officials of different organisations concerned, among others, attended the
meeting with Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Haque in the chair.
The DC said catching of Hilsa has been banned during the breeding period of
the fish from October 9 to October 30.
He said various programmes will be taken to protect Hilsa during the
breeding period.
The programmes include mobile court, monitoring of local fish markets and
distribution of rice among the fishermen in four upazilas of the district, he
added.
