Infant killed in city road accident
DHAKA, Sept 20, 2019 (BSS) – An infant was killed in front of Adhunik
Hospital on Kalshi road at Pallabi in the city’s Mirpur area today.
The deceased was identified as Khadiza Akhtar, 5, daughter of Azam Khan of
Jhinur village under Setabganj Police Station in Dinajpur district.
Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) Police Camp Assistant Sub-
Inspector (ASI) Abdul Khan confirmed the incident to BSS.
Police, quoting Khadiza’s father, said the accident took place around
2.30pm while the victim along with her parents were returning their Mirpur
residence by an auto-rickshaw following attending a programme at a local
community centre.
The passenger carrying auto-rickshaw turned over on the road as the driver
lost control over his vehicle, leaving the infant critically injured, police
sources said.
Khadiza was taken to a local hospital and later referred to DMCH
immediately for her degraded condition where the on-duty doctors declared her
dead this afternoon. The body was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
