Eight matches of School Handball meet decided in opener

DHAKA, Sept 19, 2019 (BSS)- Eight matches of the Polar Ice Cream 26th School Handball tournament ( boys’ and girls’) were decided on the opening day (Thursday) at Shahaeed Captain M Monsur Ali Handball Stadium in the city.

On the day’s girls’ section matches, Sunnydale beat Sheikh Russel Govt. High School by 17-0 goals after leading the first half by 11-0 goals, Heed International defeated Dhanmondi Tutorial by 7-3 goals after dominating the first half by 4-2 goals, Scholastica (Uttara) outclassed Cambrian School and College by 12-0 goals after leading the first half by 6-0 goals, Bangladesh International School and College edged past Shaheed Bir Uttam Lieutenant Anwar Girls College by 3-2 goals after leading the first half by 1-0 goals, Kadamtotal Purbo Bashabo School and College blanked Rajdhahni Ideal School and College by 6-0 goals after leading the first half by 5-0 goals and Shaheed Police Smrity College dumped Sideshwari High Girls school by 10-1 goals after dominating the first half by 2-0 goals.

In the boys’ section matches, Saint Gregory beat Heed International School by 30-20 goals after leading the first half by 17-1 goals while Scholastica (Uttara) dumped Motijheel Govt. Boys’ High School by 25-7 goals after leading the first half by 10-3 goals.

Earlier, Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Limited managing director Nazim Uddin Ahmed formally inaugurated the tournament as the chief guest.

Bangladesh Handball Federation president AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul presided over the opening ceremony.

A total of 37 metropolis school teams, 19 of boys and 18 of girls’ school teams, split into six groups in each section, are taking part in the meet, sponsored by Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Limited and organized by Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF).
