3 held with Yaba tablets in capital
DHAKA, Sept 17, 2019 (BSS) – Members of Detective Branch of Police (DB)
arrested three drug peddlers with 8,000 pieces of contraband yaba tablets
from city’s Gandaria area on Monday.
The arrestees were identified as Helal Uddin, 20, Mahbub Alam, 23, and Md
Shahjahan, 19.
Police also seized a pickup van, which was used to carry the yaba tablets.
According to a press release of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) media and
public relations department, the DB Police team of North Gulshan zonal area
conducted a special drive in Gandaria Thana area at 5:15pm on Monday and
arrested them.
DB office sources said that during primary interrogation the arrestees
confessed to their involvement in the illegal yaba trading and said that they
used to buy Yaba tablets from Cox’s bazar border area and take the tablets to
Dhaka using pickup van.
Later, the contraband yaba tablets were sold to the yaba peddlers in
city’s Gandaria and Sutrapur area.
A case was filed with Gandaria police station in this connection.
