School Handball tournament begins Thursday
DHAKA, Sept 17, 2019 (BSS) – The Polar Ice Cream 26th School Handball tournament (boys’ and girls’) begins on Thursday (September 19) at Shaheed Captain M Monsur Ali Handball Stadium in the city.
A total of 37 metropolis school teams, 19 of boys and 18 of girls’ school teams, split into six groups in each section, will compete in the meet, sponsored by Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Limited and organized by Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF).
Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Limited managing director Nazim Uddin Ahmed is expected to inaugurate the tournament as the chief guest at 12 pm.
The inauguration ceremony will be followed by a girls’ section inaugural match between Sunnydale School and Shaheed Sheikh Russell Govt. High School.
Sponsor Dhaka Industries Limited will provide Taka 13,20,000 out of the total tournament budget of Taka 13, 31, 450.
In this regards, a press conference was held today (Tuesday) at office room of BHF to provide all the details of the meet.
BHF acting general secretary Khalekuzzaman Swapan, sponsor Polar Ice cream marketing manager Abdullah Al Mamun, tournament committee’s chairman Golam Habib, BHF executive member tournament committee’s secretary ( boys’ section) Selim Mia Babu and tournament committee’s secretary (girls’ section) Parvin Putul were present at the press conference.
