Former customs commissioner Nagari sent to jail
DHAKA, Sept 15, 2019 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today sent former customs
commissioner AHM Shahabuddin Nagari to jail after scrapping his bail in a
case lodged over amassing illegal wealth.
Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge KM Imrul Qayesh passed the order as
Nagari surrendered before the court and pleaded for bail.
Senior lawyer Najibullah Hiru stood for Nagari’s plea, while Anti-
Corruption Commission (ACC) counsel Mir Mohammad Ali Salam opposed the plea
of the accused.
According to the case documents, Shahabuddin Nagari submitted wealth
statement with false information as he amassed illegal wealth of Taka 1.64
crore.
Deputy Director of ACC Jahangir Alam filed the case against Nagari on July
21.
