BPL franchise Dhaka Dynamites opens up about Shakib finally

DHAKA, Sept 14, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise
Dhaka Dynamites finally broke the silence on Shakib Al Hasan issue on
Saturday, saying that they would have liked Shakib al Hasan to inform them
before leaving their franchise.

The ace all-rounder left the Dhaka Dynamites to join Rangpur Riders for
the seventh season of BPL, which sparked debate and finally is believed to
lead the abandonment of this year’s tournament, which was due to begin on
December 6.

Dhaka Dynamites CEO Obaid Nizam said they have no issue with Shakib
leaving the team but what he wants is to stay transparent in all matters.

”Shakib has left, he is a great player. He gave his service for past
three years. He has a special personality and very good cricketer. He is one
of the best players I have seen playing for Bangladesh. If he wants to play
in any other team…I am very transparent about this matter. If he goes to
the other team and play, I have no issue with it. He and any player can do
that,” Dhaka Dynamites CEO Obaid Nizam said here on Saturday.

”But there are some guidelines and rules that we all should follow,”
he said. Many franchisees have broken the rules and regulations before. We
demanded something which was not in BPL’s guidelines,” he said

”What is the rule of transition? A draft is usually made and before
that draft a retention list goes (to the board). We have sit with the players
before that list. We discuss mutually how we can progress. If both (players
and franchisee) are interested on each other, then we select him,” he said.

”And before that how the transition happens, it comes to BCB and BPL’s
to answer. I cannot answer that question, the board has to answer that,” he
added.

Obaid Nizam added he is optimistic about the resumption of BPL,
country’s lone franchise-based tournament, despite BCB decided to abandon it
for the current season after fall out with the franchisees.

”There are many rumours taking place regarding BPL. First of all, we
are so happy that BPL is not off and thanks to the board for that. Maybe
won’t be not there, that’s fine but they are going to organize the tournament
on Bangabandhu’s 100th birth anniversary. I think we can be an important part
of this. If we have that opportunity we will definitely participate. Not only
us, I think many of the franchisees are not happy about the fact that we are
not going to sign the agreement this time,” said Obaid Nizam.

He however made it clear that Dhaka Dynamites will be with BCB.

”But I hope we can still be with BCB. We have some demands, suggestions
and something to say. I think two or three months are not enough to design a
new model. The President said the same two-three days before that it will
take time to execute our suggestions. He wants to give us a one-year break
and we will return on 2020,” he concluded.
