DMP commissioner pays tribute to Bangabandhu

DHAKA, Sept 14, 2019 (BSS) – Newly appointed Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md Shafiqul Islam today paid rich tributes to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Dhanmondi-32 here.

He offered fateha and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Later, he visited Bangabandhu Memorial Museum and signed visitor’s book. Senior police officials of DMP were present.

The DMP commissioner also paid tributes to the martyred police members, who sacrificed their lives during the Liberation War in 1971 by placing wreaths at Rajarbagh Police Memorial Monument in the city.

Earlier, the Public Security Division of the Home Ministry issued a notification on August 28 and posted Md Shafiqul Islam as DMP’s 34th Commissioner replacing outgoing Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Miah.

Shafiqul previously served as Additional Inspector General of Police of the Criminal Investigation Department.

He joined the Bangladesh Police as Assistant Superintendent of Police in the 8th BCS (Police) cadre.
