BN rescues 14 crew members from capsized MV Gulf Argo

DHAKA, Sept 13, 2019 (BSS) – ‘Sangu’, a rescuer ship of Bangladesh Navy
(BN), today rescued 14 crew members alive from a capsized container- laden
cargo ship ‘MV Gulf Argo’ near Payra Fairway Buoy at the Bay of Bengal.

The ship, carrying 152 containers, capsized as its engine went out of order
yesterday at the place while going to India from Chittagong Port, said an
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release here today.

Patrolling ship ‘Sangu’ rushed to the spot immediately and searching the
crews. Later, the rescuer team pulled out all the crews alive after a day.

The rescued crews are Captain Kazi Abdullah Al Muhit, 35, from Noakhali,
Chief Engineer Hasan Reza Khalid, 32, from Chittagong, Chief Officer Kazi
Mahmub Alam, 28, from Gopalganj, second Engineer Nur Alam Himel, 26, from
Narayanganj, third Master Mojammel Hossain, 24, from Noakhali, Bosun mate
Rafuk Ullah, 59, from Feni, Able Seaman M Zubayer Hossain, 24, from
Chittagong, Ordinary Seaman Sujan Mukerjee, 20, from Faridpur, Ordinary
Seaman M Sahabuddin, 21, from Bhola, Shahdat Hossain, 37, Laxmipur, Zamirul
Islam, 30, Chittagong, Shaheed Mia, 23, Rangpur, M Raju, 25, Chittagong and
Abdur Rashid, 50, Chittagong.
