DHAKA, Sept 12, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan and pace
bowler Mustafizur Rahman are on the verge of reaching individual milestone in
T20 International when they play the Tri-nation T20 series against
Afghanistan and Zimbabwe.

Shakib, currently with 1,471 runs in 72 matches will try to be the highest
scorer for Bangladesh in T20 International, outshining the feat of Tamim
Iqbal, the opener of the team, who is on a break from cricket.

Tamim scored 1556 runs from 71 matches for Bangladesh but overall his run
tally is 1613 in 75 matches due to playing four more matches for World XI.

However, to become the highest scorer for Bangladesh, Shakib needs just 86
runs in tri-series in which he would get four matches and if Bangladesh moves
into the final he would get five matches. But he needs 142 runs to go past
Tamim’s overall score.

If Shakib can outclass Tamim in becoming Bangladesh’s highest scorer in
T20 cricket, he will be the first cricketer in the history to top the batting
and bowling chart for his country in any format of cricket. Shakib currently
is the highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh in T20 cricket with 88 wickets.

The ace all-rounder, though tops the wicket-chart in ODI and Test cricket
alongside T20 cricket, holds the second place in batting in ODI and T20 and
third place in Test cricket currently.

Tamim Iqbal tops the batting chart in all format of cricket for Bangladesh
as of now.

As Shakib looks to reach his milestone with willow, Mustafizur will hope
to take two wickets to reach the 50-wicket milestone.

Currently with 48 wickets in 30 matches, the cutter master will be the
only second Bangladeshi bowler after Shakib Al Hasan to claim 50-T20 wickets
after Shakib Al Hasan.
