ICT Division to extend support to build Rajshahi as smart city: Palak

RAJSHAHI, Sept 10, 2019 (BSS)- State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak here today said the ICT division will extend all-out supports to Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) who will help the inhabitants to become smart and intelligent.

He expressed the commitment while addressing a view-sharing meeting with RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton at his city bhaban office here today where both of them discussed and sort the ways to build the city inhabitants digitally smart and intelligent one.

The state minister said installation of Intelligent Security Surveillance along with Monitoring and control center, Video Crime Management System with Face Recognition and Bangla Automobile Number Plate Recognition is the precondition to build the city smart.

He told the mayor that he will extend all-possible support to this end.

In his remarks, Mayor Liton said there is no alternative to wide-ranging promotion of ICT to build the city as developed, eco-friendly and smart side by side with fulfilling the dreams of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s digital Bangladesh.

Also the successful implementation of the government’s Vision- 2021 and achievement of sustainable development goals by 2030, the mayor added.

He told the meeting that the city has undertaken steps to bring its civic services under digitization process to foster activities so that people can get IT services at the quickest possible time.

“We will make our all the civic services computerized to mitigate sufferings and harassment of people who comes to take service,” Liton added.

Liton said digitization system would make offices completely paperless, fostering its activities without hassle along with improving transparency and accountability in government offices.

The initiative will help provide services to citizens in the shortest possible time, he said.

RCC Councilors, Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque, Chief Executive Officer Shawgatul Alam, Secretary Abu Hayat Rahmatullah and Chief Engineer Ashraful Haque were present at the meeting.
