Three mobile phone smugglers remanded
DHAKA, Sept 8, 2019 (BSS) – Three persons, detained on September 7 at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with 2,246 mobile phones, have been placed on a two-day remand each.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Asheq Imam passed the order as investigation officer of the case and Airport Police Station inspector (operation) Nur Mohammad produced Md Suzan, 49, Shahriar Hossain Prince, 33, and Md Rafikul Islam, 27, before the court and pleaded for placing them on a 10-day remand.
Members of Airport Armed Police Battalion (AAPBn) arrested the three on Saturday morning from Canopy-2 area of the airport as they landed here from Guangzhou, China.
The three arrestees at first gave confusing information, later confessed carrying the undeclared phones in their luggage. Police found 2,246 mobile phones from their possessions of different brands including iPhone, Samsung, Xiaomi and One Plus.
