16 AL aspirants submit nomination papers for Rangpur 3 by-poll

DHAKA, Sept 5, 2019 (BSS) – A total of 16 intending candidates today submitted nominations papers for getting Awami League ticket to vie in Rangpur-3 by-election slated for October 5.

The ruling Awami League (AL) will finalize on September 7 its candidate for the by-polls at a nomination board meeting of the party to be held at the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s official Ganabhaban residence.

The sale of the application forms began on September 2 at the party president’s Dhanmondi political office here. Today was the last date for submission of nomination papers.

The aspirants are AL Advisory Council Member Chowdhury Khalekuzzaman, Rangpur District AL General Secretary Mohammad Rezaul Karim Razu, Rangpur district unit AL Organizing Secretary Advocate Anwarul Islam, Rangpur City AL President Mohammad Safiur Rahman, Rangpur City AL General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal, Rangpur district AL Publicity and Publication Secretary Rozy Rahman, Rangpur City AL Publicity and Publication Secretary Rezaul Islam Milon, Rangpur City AL Labor Affairs Secretary Abdul Majid, Rangpur District Awami League acting President Momtaj Uddin Ahmed, Rangpur City AL Member Mosaddak Hossain Bablu, Rangpur district Awami League office Secretary ATM Tohidur Rahman Tutul, Rangpur District Awami Swechchhasebak League Vice-President Mohammad Golam Rabbani Biplob, Rangpur City AL Member Mohammad Delwar Hossain, Rangpur City AL Vice-President Dilsad Islam and Habibul Haque Sarker.

The Rangpur-3 parliamentary seat fell vacant after the death of Leader of the Opposition and Jatiya Party Chairman Hussain Mohammad Ershad who passed away at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital on July 14 while undergoing treatment.
