Neo JMB trying to be active using apps: Monirul

DHAKA, Sept 5, 2019 (BSS) – Chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational (CTTC) M Monirul Islam said that some members of the neo Jamatul Mujahidin Bangladesh (JMB) have been trying to be active by using different apps.

“The neo-JMB members has been planning for launching attacks by establishing internal network with the help of technology,” he told BSS during an interview at his office here recently.

Monirul, also an Additional Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said on the basis of intelligence reports, the law enforcement agencies have foiled many of their attempts during last few years.

“No one will be spared,” he said, adding that some Jamaat-Shibir activists recently joined the Neo JMB and trying to create unrest and anarchy in the country but they are not capable and well equipped to carry out any major attacks or destructive activities as their network has already been destroyed.

He said the activities of the militants are now almost under control, adding, “But there is no scope to be complacent It is a global issue and people of this ideology are active in our society and internationally, he added.
