DHAKA, Sept 05, 2019 (BSS) – National Board of Revenue (NBR) is set to give necessary instructions to the Export Processing Zones (EPZs) for using the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) instated of manual process to entry the duties for goods of the industries under EPZs.

In this regard, Dhaka Customs Bond Commissioner SM Humayun Kabir sent a letter to NBR on August 27 demanding the necessary instructions and effective measures.

In the letter, Humayun Kabir said there are many indirect export oriented industries in the EPZs. “Though the direct export oriented industries complete all tax related procedures during exporting, but the indirect export oriented industries complete their tax related procedures manually at the EPZs gates,” he added.

He said the indirect exporters receive only bill of entry which is written by hand and the process take huge time as well as there is a possibility of tax evasion.

So, he requested the higher authority to issue necessary instructions to the EPZs for bringing the all raw materials under ASYCUDA entry within the next 15 days.
