Maritime ports advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal three

DHAKA, Sept 5, 2019 (BSS) – Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three as squally weather is likely to affect maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas due to influence of a low that lies over coastal Odisha and adjoining area.

“Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining areas as steep pressure gradient persists over North Bay due to influence of a low. So, the maritime ports are advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three,” said a met office weather bulletin today.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.

Met office said the axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, centre of the low to Assam across southern part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over North Bay.

Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Rangpur, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi division with moderately heavy falls at places over the country.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
