U-16 women’s football team leaves for Thailand

DHAKA, Sept 5, 2019 (BSS) – The Bangladesh U-16 women’s football team left for Thailand today (Thursday) to participate in the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship scheduled to be held on September 15-28 in Thailand.

During the stay in Thailand Bangladesh the girls in red and green will also play three practice matches – first two matches against Chonburu FC Women’s team on September 6 and 9 — and the last one remaining one against Kasetsart University Women’s team slated for September 11.

The women in red and green were pitted in Group A alongside the hosts, along with Japan and Australia. Group B consist North Korea, South Korea, China and Vietnam.

The two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals while the champions and runners-up teams will join hosts India in the 2020 Under-17 Women’s World Cup.

Bangladesh will start their tournament campaign taking on host Thailand on September 15 at Chonburi Stadium in Chonburi before facing Japan on September 18 at IPE Chonburi Stadium, Chonburi.

Bangladesh women will play their last group match against Australia on September 21 at the same venue.
