Attackers on police to be arrested soon: CTTC Chief

DHAKA, Sept 2, 2019 (BSS) – The miscreants, who carried out attack on police near Science Lab crossing, would be identified and arrested soon, Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Chief of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Md Monirul Islam said today.

“We will be able to unearth the mystery of the attack on the law enforcing agencies through proper investigation, as we had previously unveiled all the mysteries of the militant attacks committed across the country,” he told BSS.

Monir said that the law-enforcing agencies has unearthed the clues and gathered facts most of the recent killings and attacks on bloggers and liberals in the country.

An explosive bomb was hurled targeting police to get big media coverage but the militants do not have enough capacity and network to launch any major attacks.

The CTTC chief said that investigation team found evidence of the involvement of ex-Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) cadres, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami and its activists as well as other ultra militant outfits in such crimes.

Describing formation of militant outfits in the country, he said ex-Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) cadres, Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and Neo JMB members are trying to re-organize but it would be in vain.

Monirul Islam said a good number of arrestees involved in the killings of bloggers were found to be former and incumbent members of Chhatra Shibir, many of them have direct link to the banned militant outfit, Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) and other outfits.

Replying to a query on IS and site intelligence, Monirul Islam said no IS network or its members is in the country, but site intelligence is a site as it upload statements on its site, whatever it is true or false.

Talking about the blast at Science Lab, the additional commissioner has said bombs was hurled targeting police as the law enforcing agencies foiled their previous activities and arrested them.

“Detective Branch (DB) and Police are trying to find out if there was any link with the recent Malibagh and Gulistan blasts.” he said.
