Nasim urges political parties to stop conspiracy over Rohingya issue

DHAKA, Sept 2, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) Presidium Member and
spokesperson of 14-party alliance Mohammed Nasim today urged the political
parties involved in hatching conspiracy over Rohingya issue to stop their
plotting.

“We sheltered the Rohingyas on the humanitarian ground. But the evil
forces have started hatching conspiracy over the issue. Please stop your
plotting over Rohingya issue,” he said.

Nasim was addressing a memorial meeting on Professor Muzaffar Ahmed, one of
the political luminaries of the country and former president of Bangladesh
National Awami Party (Pro-Moscow NAP), at Institution of Diploma Engineers,
Bangladesh (IDEB) auditorium in the city’s Kakrail area.

He urged the international community to put strong pressure on Myanmar for
taking back the Rohingyas to their homeland Myanmar.

The veteran politician also urged the country’s all political parties to be
united over the issue and said, “Do not do any politics over the issue rather
we should face it in a united manner”.

Elimination of militancy has been possible only of unity, Nasim said,
adding, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sheltered the Rohingyas on the
humanitarian ground. But now they should be repatriated to their homeland
Myanmar. I hope, we will be able to resolve the Rohingya crisis unitedly.”

Recalling the memories of Professor Muzaffar Ahmed, he said he (Muzaffar)
was strict about non-communal political spirit.

Muzaffar, an advisor of the Liberation War-time government, was a close
friend of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who led the
independence and Liberation War, Nasim added.

Speaking about NAP’s politics, he said NAP and Communist Party should play
a role in the field of politics as opposition. “We want that pro-liberation
political parties should play the role of opposition. It will replace BNP-
Jamaat as strong pro-liberation opposition party,” the 14-party alliance
spokesman added.
