By-polls of Ershad’s constituency Oct 5
DHAKA, Sept 01, 2019 (BSS) – The Election Commission (EC) today announced
that the by-polls of Rangpur-3 constituency, which was vacant after the death
of Jatiya Party former chairman HM Ershad, will be held on October 5.
“The voting will be held on October 5… Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs)
will be used at all the voting centres,” Additional Secretary of the EC
Mokhlesur Rahman told reporters at a press conference at its media centre in
city’s Agargaon.
He said the last date for submitting nomination forms is September 9 while
the returning officer will scrutinize the forms on September 11.
“September 16 is the last day for withdrawal of nomination forms,” he
added.
Former JP chief Ershad died on July 14 while undergoing treatment in
city’s Combined Military Hospital (CMH). Later, the Jatiya Sangsad
Secretariat announced the constituency vacant.
