Sheikh Kamal SAARC Snooker Championship begins tomorrow

DHAKA, Aug 31, 2019 (BSS)- Sheikh Kamal SAARC Snooker Championship will begin on Monday (Sept. 2) at Dhaka Club in the city.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen will inaugurate the five-day meet as the chief guest tomorrow, one day before start of the tournament.

Salman F Rahman, Private Industry and Investment Advisor to Prime Minister, will present as the special guest, organized by Beximco Group under the joint initiative of Dhaka Club and Bangladesh Billiard and Snooker Federation (BBSF).

Apart from hosts Bangladesh, four more countries – India, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka will compete in the tournament that named Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s eldest son and all time great sports organizer Sheikh Kamal.

BBSF secretary Syed Mahbub disclosed all the details of the tournament at a press conference held today (Saturday) at Dhaka Club’s Samson H Chowdhury center.

A total of twelve players will compete in the tournament. Among them four players will represent for Bangladesh while the eight players will represent for the remaining four countries.

The champions will receive U$ 25,000 while the runners-up will have U$ 15,000 as cash award. The third and fourth place finishers will get U$ 500 each.
