Dengue outbreak decreasing in Khulna

KHULNA, Aug 31, 2019 (BSS) – Around 608 dengue patients are now undergoing treatment at different hospitals and clinics in Khulna division.

“A total of 4,510 patients were admitted to the different hospitals in Khulna division since January this year. Of them, 3,681 patients have returned home after recovery,” said an official release of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHs) in Khulna.

A total of 13,181 dengue test kits have reserved in the Khulna division, said the release. A total of 12 people have died of dengue so far, it added.

Around 115 new dengue patients got admitted to different hospitals in the last 24 hours across the division while 221 dengue patients have been referred to hospitals in Dhaka city.

A dengue patient died today at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH).

The deceased was identified as Shilpi Begum, residence of Terokhada upazila in Khulna.

Shilpi was admitted to the hospital with dengue fever on Friday. She died around 1.45pm during treatment at ICU, Dr Shailendra Nath Biswas of KMCH confirmed.
