RCC to set up butterfly corner at central zoo
RAJSHAHI, Aug 29, 2019 (BSS)- Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) is going to
set up a butterfly corner at Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Central Zoo and Park to
attract more visitors to the park.
The corner aimed to create a recreational space as well as to keep up
natural environment harmonizing with the surrounding installations, landscape
and topography will also add passive amusement to the tourists particularly
nature lovers.
RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton accompanied by butterfly expert Prof Dr
Abul Basher from Dhaka University visited some possible sites in the park
here yesterday afternoon.
Seeing the sites Prof Bashar said Rajshahi’s environment is very much
suitable for butterfly. There is scope of keeping more than 40 species of
butterfly here. An ideal habitat needs to be established to this end.
Students from the nearby colleges and Rajshahi University will get benefit
from the corner for their academic and research purposes, he added.
