Pacer Rubel takes a break from cricket

DHAKA, August 28, 2019 (BSS) – National pace bowler Rubel Hossain took a break from the ongoing practice camp for the upcoming Test and tri-nation T20 series in a bid to be with his ailing wife who is expecting to be a mother very soon.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu confirmed the news, saying that Rubel will join the camp once his wife becomes okay.

“He took a break from the camp for the next one week. As he is expected to be a father very soon and once his wife gives the birth to a baby then he will join the camp,” Nannu said here on Wednesday.

Rubel was in the camp since it started on August 19. However due to the break from the cricket he won’t take part in the two-day preparation match which the players in the camp will play, split into two teams.

Bangladesh’s one-off Test match against Afghanistan begins from September 5 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. However the BCB is yet to announce the Test squad.

After the Test, Bangladesh will play a tri-nation T20 series involving Afghanistan and Zimbabwe. The tri-nation series starts on September 13 and the final is on September 24.
