RAJSHAHI, Aug 25, 2019 (BSS)- A trial tribunal here today has convicted a
youth and sentenced him to death for killing his brother-in-law in the city
around two and half years back.
The convict identified as Foysal Kabir alias Rony Ahmed, 29, son of
Habibur Rahman of Kazla area under Motiher Police Station, has also been
fined Taka 10,000.
Rajshahi Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Anup Kumar found the convict guilty
and handed down the verdict in his absence but acquitted his father Ershad
Ali, another accused of the case, as the charge brought against him couldn’t
be proved, said Entajul Haque Babu, Special Public Prosecutor of the court.
According to the prosecution story, in brief, Rony Ahmed got in an
altercation with his brother-in-Law Biplob Hossain as sequel to a previous
enmity. At one stage of the scuffle, Rony stabbed him indiscriminately and
fled away on March 3, 2017. Biplob succumbed to his injuries on the way to
hospital.
Prosecutor Babu, who conducted the case on behalf of the state, said the
tribunal handed down the verdict on the basis of examining the recorded
depositions of five prosecution witnesses and other relevant evidences.
Advocate Mizanul Islam defended the accused.
