Javed emerges unbeaten champion Rapid Rating Chess
DHAKA, Aug 24, 2019 (BSS)- Javed Ali Azad of Shahaeen Chess Club emerged unbeaten champions in the Orbit Apparels Rapid Rating Chess that held on Friday evening at Malekabanu Adarsha Bidyaniketon in the city’s Uttara.
Javed secured 6.5 points after the title was decided in a tie breaking system with Abu Hanif of Sonali Bank who finished runners-up also securing the same points.
Masum Hossain and Sarowar Hossain Ullash finished third and fourth position with 6 and 5.5 points respectively.
A total of 67 players including a fide master and two candidate masters took part in the meet, organized by Malekabanu Adarsha Bidyaniketon.
Central Chess Club founder president Rahat Hossain distributed the prizes as chess chief guest after the competition.
Central Chess Club finance secretary Murad Hossain, Central Chess Club office secretary Amad Ahmed Mortaza Rony, executive members Monjur Alam and Golam Hafizul Haque, were among others, present on the occasion.
Earlier, Morning Glory Chess Club’s Kushtia founder president Dr. Ratan Kumar Paul formally inaugurated the day-long meet as the chief guest.
Sponsor Orbit Apparels Limited managing director renowned sports lover Alim Al Raji was also present in the inaugural ceremony.
