2.8 tonnes of fingerlings released at waterbodies in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA, AUG 20, 2019 (BSS) – A total of 2.8 tonnes of fingerlings worth of TK 7 lakh were released at institutional waterbodies including the ponds of Adarsha Guchchagram here this month.
The fingerlings releasing activity started on August 08 at the management of upazila fisheries offices and ended today amid much enthusiasm, office sources said.
Concerned upazila chairman and upazila nirbahi officer inaugurated the fingerlings releasing activity in the waterbodies of the respective upazila as the chief guest and the special guest respectively.
District fisheries officer Abdud Dayan and the concerned upazila fisheries officer, institutional chiefs, local elite including the media men were present on the occasion.
Each of the seven upazila fisheries offices released 400 kgs of fingerlings of Ruhi, Katla and Mrigel fries after procuring them for Taka one lakh from the revenue fund of 2019-2020 fiscal.
DFO Abdud Dayan said the fingerlings were released in the waterbodies and the ponds as part of the programmes of National Fisheries Week-2019 celebration.
