River erosion devours 11 primary schools in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, AUG 19, 2019 (BSS) – Eleven government primary schools of three upazilas in the district were devoured by the river of Brahmaputra during last month flood.

District primary education officer (DPEO) M. Hossain Ali said this in the monthly meeting of district development coordination committee.

The meeting was held at the conference room of deputy commissioner (DC) here yesterday (Sunday) with DC Abdul Matin in the chair.

DPEO M. Hossain Ali said five schools ruined out in Fulchhari upazila, four in Sadar upazila and two in Sundarganj upazila.

The schools are- Haru Danga Govt. Primary School, Dhulipata Govt. Primary School, Ketkirhat Govt. Primary School, Zamira Govt. Primary School and Angaridaha Govt. Primary School under Fulchhari upazila,

The schools of Sundarganj upazila are- Chithulia Char Govt. Primary School, Chithulia Dighar Nutunpara Govt. Primary School, Baze Chithulia Govt. Primary School and Moulavir Char Govt. Primary School under Sadar upazila and Uzan Burail Govt. Primary School and Char Purba Lalchamar Govt. Primary School.

Considering the interest of the students, the DPEO said, now classes of the schools are being held in the home yards of local persons. Construction of new school buildings depends on availability of land and necessary fund, he said.
