HASAN-BANGABANDHU-DISCUSSION-2-DHAKA-LAST

About the shifting of BNP’s position to celebrate Begum Khaleda Zia’s birthday on August 16 instead of August 15 this year, the information minister said the party (BNP) has changed its position being castigated by the people.

“People are highly criticizing the celebration on the fateful day of the nation. So, they (BNP) have changed the date of the celebration,” he said urging BNP leaders to fix the actual date of birth of Khaleda Zia.

“How, a party will move forward if they can not fix the date of birth of the party chief,” he asked.

Brushing aside the allegation of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir that Awami League destroyed the country’s jute sector, the information minister remained that It was BNP government which shut down most of the jute mills including biggest one Adamjee Jute Mills after coming to power in 1991 and 2001.

On the other hand, it was the Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina which opened those jute mills one after another, giving the ownership of many factories to the workers after coming to power in 1996 and 2008,” he added.

The information minister also urged BNP secretary general to stop speaking blatant lie on the recent issue of trading of rawhides of the sacrificial animals after holy Eid-ul-Azha.

Dr Hasan said the number of sacrificial animals has been increased two to three times now as people’s economic condition became better over the last ten years.

But, due to restriction of compliance executed by the government for environmental protection, the number of tanneries didn’t increased. Some unscrupulous profit mongers wanted to take the benefit of the excess rawhide, he said.

The minister said the government is investigating the matter to find out anybody guilty for the trick.

Dr Hasan said the country is moving fast under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and it would continue to materialize the dream of Bangabandhu.

Pointing out the serial grenade attacks in 63 districts at a time on August 17, 2005 and grenade attack on Awami league rally on August 21, 2004, Professor Arefin said the Bangabandhu’s killers always chose the month of August for execution of their maneuvers. We have to remain alert about their plot, he said.
