Booters likely to leave for Dushanbe Sept 1

DHAKA, Aug 16, 2019 (BSS)- The national football team will likely to leave
for Tajikistan capital of Dushanbe on September 1 to play Bangladesh’s first
match against the war-torn nation Afghanistan in the Joint Qualifiers for the
World Cup-2022 and the Asian Cup-2022.

Before departure of Dushanbe the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF)
decided to hold a week-long camp in Dhaka on August 24 or 25. The national
team’s committee, however, will finalize the issue in a meeting scheduled to
be held on Monday (August 19).

The national team committee’s chairman Nabil Ahmed will brief the pressmen
after the meeting regarding their plans about the national team, informed a
BFF source to BSS.

Meanwhile, the BFF today released a 25-member preliminary list of the
national team for the World Cup-2022 Joint Qualifiers.

Bangladesh will play their second match against Qatar at the Bangabandhu
National Stadium in Dhaka on October 10 before playing against India on
October 15 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.

Earlier, on Tuesday, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) confirmed
Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, as the home venue for Afghanistan,
ending speculation regarding the venue for Bangladesh’s first match against
Afghanistan.

The AFC released venues for the first four match days of the qualifiers
and according to the schedule, Bangladesh will play against Afghanistan at
the Republican Central Stadium in Dushanbe on September 10.
