Rail communication between Dhaka and northern region resumes
DHAKA, Aug 9, 2019 (BSS) – Rail communication between Dhaka and the
country’s north and north-western districts resumed at 4pm today as a Khulna-
bound train derailed on the Bangabandhu Bridge this afternoon.
The wheels of a compartment of the Khulna-bound intercity train Sundarban
Express derailed near the East corner of the bridge around 1:30pm, Bangladesh
Railway sources said.
On information, a rescue team reached the spot and salvaged the derailed
compartment after two and half an hours of derailment, they added.
