DHAKA, Aug 8, 2019 (BSS) – The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) today signed the Annual Performance Agreement (APA) with its seven organisations aimed at implementing the government’s development goals under an effective, efficient and dynamic administrative system.
The APA was inked at a function at the PMO at Tejgaon here this afternoon.
PM’s Principal Secretary Md Nojibur Rahman and Principal Coordinator on SDG Affairs at the PMO Md Abul Kalam Azad were present at the function, while PMO Secretary Sajjadul Hassan presided over it.
The organisations which signed the APA are: Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA), Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Public-Private Partnership Authority (PPPA), NGO Affairs Bureau, National Skill Development Authority and the Ashrayan-2 Project.
Sajjadul Hassan inked the APA on behalf of the Prime Minister’s Office, while BEZA Executive Chairman Paban Chowdhury, BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General SM Salahuddin Islam, BIDA Secretary Mosharraf Hossain, PPPA Chief Executive Officer Md Alkama Siddiqui, Acting Director General of NGO Affairs Bureau Md Shahadat Hossain, NSDA Executive Chairman Faruk Hossain and Project Director of Ashrayan-2 Project Md Mahbub Hossain initialled it on behalf of their respective organisations.
After signing of the APA, they exchanged documents.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Coordinator on SDG Affairs Abul Kalam Azad asked the officials concerned to make the APA more challenging not only for the PMO, but also for the whole government.
“As much as the APA will be efficient, the pace of the country’s development will be accelerated to that extent,” he said.
Putting emphasis on making the annual confidential report (ACR) more efficient, Azad said it is linked with the APA. “The goal of the APA will be attained when we can make the ACR more effective,” he said.
The principal SDG coordinator said many countries of the world have introduced many models.
“But the APA is Bangladesh’s homegrown model … it’s our pride,” he said.
Pointing out that the PMO gave the leadership in this regard, Azad said the organisations under the PMO are performing well in implementing the APA.
“But they’ll have to improve their performance further to achieve cent percent success in APA,” he noted.
Earlier, the PMO held a preparatory meeting to observe the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day in its conference room. PMO Secretary Sajjadul Hassan presided over it.
