Press Council concerned at dengue outbreak, condoles casualties

DHAKA, Aug 08, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Press Council has expressed concern and sorrow at the outbreak of dengue and deaths of people afflicted by the virus, a handout said.

The Council observation is that the media had displayed utmost responsibility regarding the disease.

But sometimes a few media outlets had printed photographs in such a way that it had the potential to create panic among common people, the release added.

Such practice was in violation of the code of conduct formulated by the Council.

The Council expected that the entire mass media of the country would play a responsible role in creating awareness while publishing such news.

It also urged concerned authorities to cooperate with journalists so that they get authentic and genuine information.
