DHAKA, Aug 08, 2019 (BSS)- Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader
today said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the authorities concerned
to intensify cleanliness programme to prevent the outbreak of mosquito-borne
dengue fever.

“She (Sheikh Hasina), just after return home from abroad, asked the
authorities concerned to intensify cleanliness programme further to prevent
the outbreak of dengue . . . Now, checking the life-threatening dengue is now
our only task,” he said while addressing a programme at Dhanmondi-32 in the
capital.

AL Relief and Social Welfare Sub-Committee organised the programme,
marking the 89th birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa.

Quader, also the Road, Transport and Bridges Minister, urged people to
cooperate with the government instead of criticising it unnecessarily to
tackle the dengue prevalence.

He said his party is doing all necessary works to check out dengue while
city corporations and other offices concerned are working in a coordinated
manner to eliminate dengue.

“So I’m urging all to keep clean your own houses and workplaces,” he added.

Regarding BNP’s claim of the government’s failure in controlling dengue,
Quader said, “BNP itself has failed to play its due role as a responsible
opposition party.”

He suggested BNP to identify its own failure first before talking about
the government’s failure.

The minister also urged all not to do politics and to cooperate the
government in this issue.

AL Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap and sub-committee member-
secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, among others, addressed the meeting with the
committee president AFM Fakhrul Islam Munsi in the chair.
