Purchase committee approves four proposals

DHAKA, Aug 07, 2019 (BSS) – The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase today approved four proposals including one to import some 4.5 lakh metric tons of MOP fertilizer from the Belarusian Potash Company (BPC) with a cost of around Taka 1,109 crore.

The approval came from a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase held at the Cabinet Division today with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in the chair.

Briefing the reporters after the meeting, Kamal said under the proposal, the cost for importing per metric ton of MOP fertilizer would be $291.65.

The meeting approved another proposal for importing some 25,000 metric tons of granular urea fertilizer from Qatar with an estimated cost of around Taka 62 crore where per metric ton of granular urea fertilizer would cost $ 293.5.

The meeting also empowered the concerned ministry to import the rest of 4 lakh metric tons of urea fertilizer in the current year as per their need in phases.

The Finance Minister said the meeting approved another proposal for procuring Casing Accessories and Liner Hanger for the well drilling operations of Zakiganj-1 with a cost of Taka 1.87 crore.

The day’s meeting gave nod to other proposal for selecting the consulting firm for real time online motor vehicle document digitalization, archiving, and management: System in Dhaka metro circle-1,2 and 3 (Mirpur, Ekuria and Uttara) offices of BRTA and integrate existing BRTA-IS.

Under this proposal, Computer Network Systems Ltd (CNS) would provide the service for archiving important documents of motor vehicles under Mirpur, Ekuria and Uttara circles of Dhaka metro with Taka 28.05 crore.

Answering to a question on the incentives on providing remittance to Bangladesh, the Finance Minister said with the implementation of this decision, the inward flow of remittance would increase at the end of the current fiscal year while the tendency of resorting to illegal means like ‘Hundi’ would be reduced.
