DHAKA, Aug 7, 2019 (BSS) – Outgoing Bhutanese Ambassador to Bangladesh
Sonam Tobden Rabgye today paid a farewell call on President Md Abdul Hamid at
Bangabhaban here.
During the meeting, the President laid emphasis on exploring the trade and
business potentials in Bangladesh and strengthening the bilateral relations
between Bangladesh and Bhutan.
The head of the state underscored the need for arranging exchange-visit
between businessmen and investors of the two countries, President’s press
secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS after the meeting.
Recalling the strong historical ties of friendship between Bangladesh and
Bhutan, which was laid by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
Rahman, President Hamid said the existing relation between the two countries
is excellent.
The President expressed his gratitude to the Bhutanese government and its
people for being the first state to recognize Bangladesh as an Independent
state after the War of Liberation in 1971.
Abdul Hamid also mentioned that Bangladesh and Bhutan are jointly working
on some development sectors including electricity.
The President thanked the Bhutanese envoy for successful completion of his
assignment in Dhaka.
The Bhutanese envoy said the bilateral relation with Bangladesh is
increasing day by day and it expanded many times in the last three years.
Rabgye thanked the President for providing heartfelt cooperation during
his stay in Bangladesh.
