35 players selected from hockey’s open trial

DHAKA, Aug. 7, 2019 (BSS) – Thirty five players were selected from near about 100 aspirants hockey players for the U-21 hockey team’s open trial that concluded today (Wednesday) at Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium.

The trial, which was begun on August 2 ahead of the Junior Asia Cup in Bangladesh next year, was conducted by coach Mamunur Rashid.

The selected 35 players will join in the long-term training camp schedule to begin on August 18. Twenty five more players from national team and premier league teams will also join with them in the camp.

Last month Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) in its executive committee meeting gave the green signal to Bangladesh Hockey Federation’s proposal to host Bangladesh Champions Trophy and Junior Asia Cup Hockey in a suitable time next year.

The selected thirty five players are Tasin Ali, Kholilur Rahman, Sihab Hossain, Debasish Kumar Roy, Obaidul Haque Joy, Promod Dewan, Zisas Ullah Abir and Hridoy Hossain Anas (forward), Abed Uddin, Nahiyan Shuvo, Mehedi Hasan, Zahid Hossain, Sabadur Rahman Mithu, Rokibul Hasan, Rokibul Hasan, Hridoy Sheikh, Raihan (Kala), Azizul Islam and Nazmul Hasan Mridul (mid fielder), Mehab Hossain, Mehedi Hasan, Shoyeb Mollik Tonmoy, Sadman Shakib, Amirul Islam, Akib Hossain and Mirazul Islam (defender), Saijuddin, Sakib Mahmud Ovi, Alamin Mia, Nuruzzaman Nayan, Sojibur Rahman (custodian), Sajib Hossain, Ashraful Alam, Rajib Das and Pervez Hossain (Sirajganj).
