CCC announces daylong mosquito elimination programme

CHATTOGRAM, August 6, 2019 (BSS) – Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation
(CCC) AJM Nasir Uddin, today announced that a daylong special crash programme
will be conducted in the city on Thursday to make the city free from dengue.

He said representatives of conservancy, health teams, students from
education institutions, representatives of different wards will visit all
houses under 41 wards of CCC area from 10 am to 5 pm on the day to destroy
larvae of Aedes mosquito.

The Mayor’s announcement came while he was addressing a coordination
meeting at the circuit house this noon.

The coordination meeting was jointly organized by Chattogram divisional
and district administration office.

As part of the drive, the representatives of CCC, health workers, primary
and secondary schools, mosques and volunteers will also work for the
awareness and destruction of the larva of the Aedes mosquito, he added.

The Mayor said the city people are gradually being alerted to the
prevalence of dengue but there is no reason to panic and sought all-out
cooperation from city dwellers and called upon them to build self-awareness
to get rid of the prevailing mosquito menace.

Divisional Commissioner Abdul Mannan, Deputy Inspector General of Police
Chattogram range, Khondoker Golam Faruk, Director of Chattogram Medical
College Hospital, Brigadier General Mohsen Uddin Ahmed, President of
Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industries Mahbubul Alam, Additional
Divisional Commissioners Shankar Ranjan Shah, Nurul Alam Nizami, Dipok
Chakaroborti, Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police Shyamol
Kumar Nath, secretary of Chattogram Development Authority Tahera Ferdousi,
Superintendent of district police Nur-e-Alam Mina, chief health officer of
CCC Dr Selim Akhter Chowdhury and representatives of different government and
private organization, among others, took part in the meeting.
