DHAKA, Aug 6, 2019 (BSS) – GM Ziaur Rahman Zia of SAIF Sporting Club now took solo lead in the points table with 5.5 points after the sixth round games of International Rating Chess Tournament now being held at Bangladesh
Chess Federation hall room.
Six players are sharing the second position with 5 points. They are IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin and CM Sharif Hossain of Bangladesh Navy, FM Mehdi Hasan Parag and Tahsin Tajwar Zia of Golden Sporting Club, Abdul Momin of
Sonali Bank Sports and Recreation Club and Swarnavo Choudhury of Elegant
International Chess Academy.
Abzid Rahman of Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society now staying at the
third position with 4.5 points.
In the day’s sixth round games were held this (Tuesday) morning, GM Zia
beat FM Parag, IM Minhaz beat Jabed Al Azad, CM Sharif beat Kazi Taherul
Islam, Tahsin beat FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman, Swarnavo beat CM S M Sharon,
Momin beat Sariatullah and Abzid beat Zoar Haque Prodhan.
The seventh round games were started this evening and all games were in
progress when the last report came in hand.
The eighth round games begin tomorrow (Wednesday) at 10 am at the same
venue.
