3-day tree fair begins in Panchagarh
PANCHAGARH, Aug 4, 2019 (BSS) – A three-day tree fair began today on
Debdarutoa ground in Debiganj upazila of the district aiming to educate
people about the importance of trees.
Upazila administration and Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE)
jointly organized the fair.
At the inaugural function, speakers said saplings of different verities of
trees should be planted to increase food production alongside maintain
ecological balance in the country.
Highlighting economic and environmental advantages of tree, they said
plantation of trees would significantly contribute to economic progress of
the country through enhancing earning of the people.
Forest has to be increased to build a green buffer zone for protecting the
country from natural calamities, the speakers added.
Earlier, a procession was brought out from the upazila parishad premises
which ended there after parading different roads of the town.
