Hospital beds may be raised for dengue patients: Zahid

DHAKA, Aug 03, 2019 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque today said that hospital beds will be increased for dengue patients, if necessary, to ensure their proper treatment in the city.

“Additional 1000 beds at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery and the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital and some more beds at the Shishu Hospital in the city can be arranged in the coming days to tackle the dengue situation,” the minister told the journalist after visiting five hospitals in the city.

He said about 100 and 200 beds have already been added to the Mitford Hospital and the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) respectively.

Director General (DG) of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Abul Kalam Azad and other officials were also present during the time.

People can call at the control room of the Directorate General of Drug Administration if they face shortage of dengue detection kits, DGHS DG said.

The control room number is 01708506047, he added.
