RAJSHAHI, Aug 1, 2019 (BSS) – Rajshahi city unit of Bangladesh Awami League (AL) along with its front organizations today began observance of the
National Mourning Day-2019 and 44th martyrdom anniversary of Architect of Independence and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The observance began with placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu
followed by offering special prayers seeking divine blessings for eternal
peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his family members on the city
unit office premises at Kumarpara area this morning.
City Mayor and city unit president of the party AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and
its General Secretary Dablu Sarker and hundreds of leaders and workers of
other associate bodies were present.
The month-long programmes include – recitation from the Holy Quran, milad
mahfils and offering special munajats, holding mourning rally, distribution
of foods among poor and distressed people and discussions.
The other programmes include playing of the historic March 7 Speech of
Bangabandhu, spontaneous blood donation, screening of documentary films on
Bangabandhu, hoisting of the national and party flags at half-mast.
