Three get death, 7 life imprisonment in Rozob murder case
DHAKA, Aug 1, 2019 (BSS) – A speedy trial tribunal here today sentenced three people to death and seven others to life imprisonment in a case lodged over murder of one Rozob in capital’s Nawabpur area in 2011.
Judge Abdur Rahman Sarder of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 came up with the judgment today. All the convicts but one are yet to be arrested and the trial was held in their absence.
The convicts, who were sentenced to death, are- Rahim alias Arif, Jiku and Abu Bakar Siddique alias Tiger. The convicts, who were sentenced to life imprisonment, are- Monti, Milon, Akash, Farhad Hossain, Sajib Ahmed Khan, Shahid Chan Khadem, and Mohammad Ali Hawlader Babu. Of the convicts, only Babu is in jail.
Apart from life imprisonment, the tribunal also fined them Taka 20 thousand each, to suffer one-year behind bars in default.
According to the case documents, the convicts stabbed Rozob indiscriminately on July 24, 2011, in Nawabpur area. He later succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
