Chaudhury, MP, has said the present government under leadership of Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina is working for changing fortune of the poor and
disadvantaged people.
“As a part of attaining this goal, the number of recipients of all types of
allowances has been increased under the social safety net programmes for
welfare of the poor and distressed people of Pirganj upazila and the trend
will continue,” she said.
Dr Shirin said this at a function arranged for distribution of saree among
1,500 poor and distressed women of all 15 unions of Pirganj upazila at
Government Shah Abdur Rouf College ground in Pirganj upazila here this
evening as the chief guest.
The Speaker said four thousand saree were also distributed among the
distressed women of all unions in her parliamentary constituency Rangpur-1
comprising of Pirganj upazila during the last Eid-ul-Fitr festivity.
“I am always with the poor, distressed and disadvantaged people and will
always stay beside them for their development to improve their living
standard,” she said.
“I express my deep gratitude to the people of Pirganj upazila once again
and thank them for electing her from Rangpur-1 (Pirganj) constituency by a
huge margin of votes in the last parliamentary election,” Dr Shirin said.
She said no one has so far been attacked by dengue fever in Pirganj upazila
since its recent breakout in the country.
The Speaker urged leaders of Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies
and local administrations to come forward to prevent dengue through taking
highest level of precautionary measures and conducting awareness raising
programs.
On the occasion, she formally inaugurated the mosquito elimination
program to prevent dengue in the upazila.
The Speaker also inaugurated construction works of 21 projects including
Neeldaryia Tourism Centre, roads from Haji Boyen Uddin School to Pirganj
Technical College and from Ward No- 9 of Pirganj municipality to Dak Bungalow
at a cost of around Taka eight crore.
With Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer TMA Momin in the chair, Pirganj
upazila Chairman Nur Mohammad Mondal, Municipal Mayor Abu Saleh Md Tajimul
Islam Shamim, Acting President of upazila AL Azizur Rahman Ranga, addressed.
