CHATTOGRAM, July 30, 2019 (BSS) – An alleged rapist was killed in a gunfight with members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Kushumpura area under Patiya upazila of the district early today.
The deceased was identified as Arman, 25, son of Mohammad Tayeb hailed from Jeri Union under the upazila.
Mashkur Rahman, assistant director of RAB-7 said that the incident happened at 5 am today when a patrol team of RAB-7 conducted the drive at Meherati village to arrest Arman.
Sensing presence of the RAB members, the criminals fired gunshots targeting the elite force, forcing them to retaliate.
Later, bullet-hit body of the rape accused was recovered from the spot after the gunfight and others fled from the scene.
A country made gun, seven cartridges also were recovered from the spot.
Arman allegedly raped a female student of class eight of Meherati village on July 19 this month, police source said.
