Seminar on safe migration held in Cumilla

CUMILLA, July 29, 2019 (BSS)- Speakers at a seminar on safe migration here today urged the overseas job seekers to take necessary training and acquire skill before going abroad for employment.

“Competence, awareness and practical knowledge are prime requisites for safe migration of overseas job seekers,” they said.

Joint Secretary of the Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry Zahid Hossain in the keynote paper of the seminar said according to the electoral pledge, the present government is committed to send one thousand efficient people from every upazila for overseas employment in next five years.

A total of 60,000 people have left the country with overseas jobs in 2018 and 17,000 people from 17 upazilas have found job abroad from Cumilla, the highest remittance earning district of the country, he said.

Speakers laid importance on making massive awareness among overseas job seekers for their legal and safe migration.

Deputy Commissioner Abul Fzal Mir, Police Super Abdullah Al Mamun spoke, among others, on the occasion while Additional Deputy Commissioner (general) Kaizer Mohammad Farabi was in the chair.

Upazila chairmen, UNOs and 50 representatives of government and non-government organizations attended the seminar jointly organized by the district administration and Bureau of Manpower at DC’s Conference room.
