RANGPUR, July 29, 2019 (BSS) – Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa today stressed on social awareness for proper implementation of various steps taken by the government to eliminate mosquito and maintain cleanliness in the city.
Mostafa said this at a pre-rally discussion organised by Rangpur City
Corporation (RpCC) on City Bhaban premises in observance of the ‘Mosquito
Elimination and Cleanliness Week-2019’ in the city as the chief guest.
Earlier, the City Mayor led a rally on the streets with participation of
City Councilors, RpCC officials and employees, sprayed insecticides using
fogger machines and cleaned weeds at different areas of the city.
The week is being observed aiming at maintaining cleanliness to eliminate
mosquito and prevent mosquito related diseases like dengue, malaria and
chikungunya in the cities, towns and other places.
Panel Mayor Mahmudur Rahman Titu, Chief Executive Officer of RpCC Akhter
Hossain Azad, its Executive Engineer Amjad Hossain, Chief Medical Officer Dr.
Kamruzzaman Ibne Taz and City Councilors were present.
The speakers highlighted importance of maintaining cleanliness at office
premises, institutions, homesteads and drainage and sewerage systems to
prevent breeding of mosquito and keep the environment clean in the city.
Mayor Mostafa sought cooperation of citizens to make the mosquito
elimination and cleanliness week successful to improve city environment along
with preventing mosquito related diseases like malaria, dengue and
chikungunya.
