Four suspected militants placed on five-day remand

DHAKA, July 28, 2019 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today placed four suspected
militants on five-day remand each in a case filed under anti-terrorism act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahmuda Akter passed the order and
investigation officer and Rupnagar Police Station inspector (investigation)
Mokammel Haque produced the accused before the court and pleaded to place
them on five-day remand each.

The accused are- Sonali Bank Senior Principal Officer Ahmed Ali,57, his
wife Salma Ahmed, 50, their son Abu Saleh Mohammad Jakaria, 22, and daughter
Asma Ferdous Rifa, 26.

Police in the early hours of July 27 arrested five of the same family from
house number 23, under road number 28, in Rupnagar area in the capital’s
Mirpur.

When police knocked on their doors, the family members pounced on them
with a sharp weapon, leaving three cops injured.

Police also fired in self-defence, injuring Ali’s another son Kibria.

According to the law enforcers, all the members of that family are active
members of banned militant outfit Ansar-al Islam.
