KUSHTIA, July 25, 2019 (BSS) – A court here today sentenced three men to life-term imprisonment for killing a maid servant named Rekha in Doulotpur upazila of the district in 2013.
District and Sessions judge Arup Kumar Goswami handed down the verdict to
Mofazzel Hossain alias Mufaz, a resident at Shitlipara village in the
upazila, Akramul Haque alias Akem, inhabitant at the village and Hashem
Sarder, man from Bheramara upazila.
According to the prosecution, on December 16 in 2013 Rekha was strangled to
death by the convicts in the evening at Shitlipara village as she experienced
immoral relation of Mofazzel’s daughter Shirin. Owner Mofazzel killed Rekha
with the help of Akramul and Hashem Sarder for fear as she could disclose the
incident to people. The convicts left Rekha’s body in a mustard field after
killing at the village.
Rekha’s husband Rustom Ali filed a case following the murder. Police
submitted the charge sheet on May 19 in 2015.
Testifying witnesses and evidences the court gave the order in presence of
the three convicts.
