DHAKA, July 24, 2019 (BSS) – Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra registered an overwhelming 6-1 goals victory over Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra in a match of the Bangladesh Premier League Football held on Wednesday at Shaheed Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj.

In the day’s match, Valerii and Raphael scored a brace each in the 8th and 67th and 15th and 90+1st minutes respectively while Alison and Bipul sup[ported them with a lone goal in the 26th and 87th minutes apiece for the winners.

The win saw Sheikh Russell KC, now stand at third position in the points table, took their tally to 48 points from 22 matches while the freedom fighters Muktijoddha Sangsad KC, currently at eighth position, remained at their previous credit of 23 points playing with the same number of matches.

In the day’s another match, ten men Team Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) recorded their second victory in the league by beating Arambagh Krira Sangha by a solitary goal scored by Otabek in the 56th minute of the match held at Shaheed Bhulu Stadium in Noakhali.

Kingslye of BJMC was shown red card by the referee following his double uyellow cards in the 90+1st minute of the match.

With the victory, bottom-ranked Team BJMC collected 11 points from 22 matches while Arambagh, now stand at fifth place, remained at their previous collection of 30 points from 23 outings.

Meanwhile, the important match between new comers Bashundhara Kings and Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited has been abandoned due to heavy shower at Sheikh Kamal in Nilphamari.

Despite being denied by Sheikh Russell in their previous match, Bashundhara Kings are on top of the table with 58 points from 21 matches and a win over Mohammedan will help them take an unassailable lead in the 13-team table, ensuring their maiden league title in debut season with two matches in hand, emulating Sheikh Jamal’s feat in their debut season in 2010.

Even a draw for Bashundhara Kings might be good enough if second-placed Abahani Limited lose points against Chittagong Abahani in another evening match in Dhaka today.

The debutants have been in fantastic form since the start of the league, having secured 19 wins -14 of those in a row – along with only one draw. However, their 20-match unbeaten run was ended by Sheikh Russel in their 21st match.
